About

Catherine Garrison

I am a Christ-follower, wife, and mom of two. I graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master’s of Divinity in Apologetics in 2010 and a Master’s of Theology in Philosophy in 2011 and am currently pursuing a PhD in Christian Ethics through Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. My research interests include issues of human dignity and flourishing, comparative worldview ethics, and ethics as apologetics. I enjoy baking and decorating cakes, traveling, and spending time with family.

Dignity and Flourishing.

Dignity and Flourishing. Despite profoundly different and sometimes conflicting belief systems, these two words resonate with nearly everyone. We base policies and laws on the common belief that human life matters and should be treated with dignity, though we often disagree about how to interpret those terms. Likewise, we may have different visions of what it means to flourish, but flourishing expresses a notion of overall well-being we generally want for ourselves and others. My goal for this site is to discuss issues of human dignity and flourishing from a Christian perspective for the purposes of
    ● clarifying biblical ethics and worldview implications for Christian believers, particularly for contentious issues of our day,
    ● helping Christians and non-Christians alike grasp biblical teaching on the sacredness of human life and the beauty of God’s design for His image-bearers to thrive in the good world He created, and
    ● encouraging Christians to engage those with other belief systems with both grace and truth as well as gentleness and respect.

I appreciate prayers for my efforts to glorify God and represent Him accurately. To that end, I recognize that despite my best efforts to speak carefully, clearly, and with faithfulness to Scripture, I may err, and I welcome correction should that be the case. I further welcome constructive criticism where there are opportunities to refine or strengthen my thinking and writing. Email me!
